Our Bands

The Houston County Band program serves over 300 students daily and includes four concert ensembles, a jazz ensemble, a percussion ensemble, and a dedicated color guard class. The Black and Silver Brigade, HCHS’s marching unit, includes two marching bands, serving over 200 students. Bands at Houston County High School have consistently received Superior ratings at adjudicated events throughout the southeast in both the concert and marching areas, including winning Grand Champion honors at the 2017 Sound of Gold Marching Invitational and the 2018 Coffee Marching Invitational. The Houston County High School Band was also awarded the Exemplary Performance Award by the Georgia Music Educators Association, one of only two high school programs in the state to receive this award for the 2016-2017 school year. Students in the Black and Silver Brigade have placed in many honor groups, including the Georgia All State Band, the South Georgia Region Band, and the Governor’s Honors Program, The BASB has performed in parades all over the US, most recently the 2019 St. Patrick’s Day parade in New York City.
